Lake washington golf course ;)

A house out in lake washington

Retention pond in melbourne overflowing.

This is a 'pit' like area in front of my parents house. It's about three fit deep to give you an idea of the standing water. In Indialantic.
As of 3:48pm, it's still raining outside. We're somewhere over 20" inches of rain with reports of isolated areas with 30". Channel 13 is saying another 5-10" possible. The storm is moving north finally, but only at 3mph (you could technically out walk this storm... ;)
It's not a bad/dangerous storm per say, the rainfall is just getting a little out of hand. For those not from the area, most everyone has hurricane insurance, but the insurance companies decided at one point that flood's aren't related to hurricanes, so... that's a separate policy.... yeah..
I'd take pictures of our hood here in Satellite Beach, but most of the roads are now closed according to the news. We managed to go to lunch at doubles on south patrick earlier and it was flooded almost the whole way. The Yaris can only handle so much, I'm afraid ;)

Comments...
(Page 1)1. Why not check out a local radio station's pictures of some flooding? (shameless plug)

2. The "Pit" is actually a tropical retention (usually dry) pond used to store water to A. decrease run-off reducing nearby Indian River flooding, contamination, and lower salinity, and B. help restore ground water protecting the fresh water ground "lens" near the beach. It topped out after a few more hours for the first time in over twenty years. Normally the plants are water tolerant. Wind continues at 2100 hours, but rain is reduced. Flooding will be somewhat reduced by tomorrow related to sandy soil--unless the storm does a 180 or a 540 and returns as a hurricane. Similar things have happened with one hurricane, but not with a TS that became a hurricane then returned to hit the same town again...
Wait! Is that the Guinness Record guys?
