When I first saw a thread on UCF rivals instructing people to poke the other teams QB, I paid no mind. This week, with USF QB Matt Grothe, I again passed up the opportunity. But, after reading this quote on tampabay.com, I think it's time I join in the fun:"On Facebook, they have this stupid, ridiculous thing called Poke the Opposing Team's Quarterback," said Grothe, likely prompting much, more poking in the next four days. "I've probably been poked three or four times by other schools all year. I've probably been poked about 6-million times this week."So there you have it. Sweet, sweet acknowledgment... Poke away ;)
UPDATE: Hah! Here are a few more players (thanks to Lisa on the rivals board): George Selvie, Amarri Jackson, Carlton Mitchell, Jessie Hester, Cedric Hill

Comments...
(Page 1)1. Alex,
What do I need to do to get a website up and running to keep the UCF/USF rivalry going? I want to be able to have a place where people can post comments and have polls. Maybe even just a place where we can go year round to discuss the two schools, and help keep a fire under the rivalry. Could it be done with a blog? Do I need to create a website? Would you be willing to help me get one going? Let me know. I am really passionate about this rivalry, and I don't want to see it go. I want to do everything I can to keep it going. Let me know, Wayne Welch

2. The series is not likely to be renewed after it ends next year.
There is some reasoning that would suggest legislature interference into the matter. State Sen. Constantine has even expressed it. The logic being that these are two publicly funded schools in the same region, and the amount of revenue that could be generated from the series makes it an economic issue. This is actually how the UF/FSU series began, if I have my history correct.
Otherwise, it'll take a BCS affiliation or the otherwise deconstruction of the BCS to entice USF into playing UCF. It's simply not in their "interest" now that they're "big time." The funny thing about that, of course, is that they said the same thing pre-bcs affiliation. Leavitt's been dodging Orlando since the day he was hired. Had they had the balls to play UCF back then, it most certainly wouldn't be a 0-2 USF leading series. Good timing on their part, I guess.
USF and Miami have also inked a 5 year deal on an annual game. It's credited as a large reason for Miami firing their athletic director. Depending on the success of the series, we'll see if it continues. As is, it's highly unlikely UM boosters will stand for a renewal. If USF beats up on Miami for a few years in a row, however, that may change. With the way Randy Shannon is recruiting though.. Should be a tough game for the bulls.
In terms of what you (or I, or any fan) can do, my advice would be to send letters expressing your interest to both schools. Send them to your state senators. Talk up the series to anyone who will listen, and call out Leavitt for dodging a program 90 miles away.
I fall in the camp that feels this game isn't just a UCF/USF thing, it's something thats good for our community. It needs to happen.

3. I second that- I like our 'rivalry' even if USF doesn't think it is. I hope we beat them this year as it may end up sparking a real rivalry... USF loses to UCF and dashes their hopes of going to the BCS Championship game... yeah something tells me that could spark a rivalry...
